The Science of Gratitude

Gratitude is a force to be reckoned with.

It’s a force unlike any other and I can positively say with the utmost certainty that it can change the entire trajectory of your life by living, breathing & practicing daily gratitude. If you want to start living the life of your dreams, with the partner of your dreams, while working at the job of your dreams, it all begins and ends with one freaking thing: gratitude.

Living a truly grateful life means you intentionally look for and find reasons to be thankful throughout your day. Yes, even on hard days. Every single day.

We aren’t innately born with gratitude, it is a skill. The great thing about skills is that the more you practice them, the better you get and the easier they become. The goal is to make gratitude second nature and a first response to all things throughout your day- both the good and the bad. There is always, always, always something to be grateful for. It’s up to you to find it!

Challenge your thoughts. Whenever you find yourself complaining, blaming or thinking negative thoughts, shift your energy and focus on finding things to be grateful for. The more you do this, you’ll notice your life begins to change. You’ll attract better friendships, more money, greater opportunities and endless possibilities.  Contrary, the more you give into your negative thoughts and get involved in gossip, drama and negativity the less abundance you will have in life.

I’m living proof that this shit works. Would I be so passionate about gratitude if I wasn’t? No. By finding reasons to be grateful for all things in life, it’s proven to me time and time again that it is the key to unlocking and creating the life of your dreams. By being a deeply grateful person, I’ve attracted substantial success in all areas of my life. Am I perfect at it? Hell no. I’m constantly a work-in-progress and I will always strive to be better at it. The great news is that you do not need to be perfect at it in order for it to work, you just need to be mindful and honest with yourself while monitoring your thoughts. Be aware of the negative thoughts, and immediately transition them into something to be grateful for instead.  

The world right now is full of too much entitlement and too little gratitude. If you can teach your kids, friends, co-workers, staff or anyone who will listen to practice gratitude then I know the world would not only be a much kinder place, but also a much happier place!

1. Read the book ‘The Magic’ it will walk you through daily gratitude practices and teach you everything you need to know about it. I love having this book on hand to re-read the chapters I found to be most impactful to me. Treat it as your 'gratitude bible' and refer back to it often!

2.  I also love the book ‘Think Like A Monk’ it is centered around kindness, gratitude and living life in the most peaceful harmonious ways. I read a lot of books and this one has to be in my top 5 favourites of all time. That's totally saying something!

3. Get yourself a gratitude journal and use it daily! There are many different types of gratitude journals out there, get one that speaks to you and make sure you actually use it daily. There is something purely magical about physically writing down things you're grateful for instead of simply thinking them.
